‘Hope for the
Holidays’
Telethon
Created and
organized by KHK
and FRHS
TV/Video Classes
What is it?
The
telethon will
serve as a
district-wide
charity
fundraiser
soliciting
donations and
the
involvement of
the community
How is it
organized?
It is
a telethon
without
telephones! KHK
will organize
the fundraising
events and
solicit
donations and
involvement of
local
businesses,
clubs, and
individuals.
HS
Media classes
will produce 1
day of
broadcasting to
be aired on
Channel 19. They
will also
organize
schedules for
the day’s events
including on-air
hosts,
entertainment,
and
presentations.
When is it?
December 19–
Senior High
School – 9am –
1:00 pm
Who does the
telethon
benefit?
All
fundraising will
benefit the
Westmoreland
County Food bank
and the
Westmoreland
County
Children’s
Bureau
How can I get
involved?
Clubs,
sports teams,
classes, groups
of teachers,
community
organizations,
businesses can
plan their own
activity/fundraising
project to
benefit the
Telethon. Come
during the
broadcast to
support the
students while
giving a
donation and a
holiday greeting
on-air.
We are in need
of entertainment!
If you
have a group
that wishes to
perform
(musicians,
singers,
cheerleaders,
etc.)
they can come
that day to
provide
entertainment in
the form of a
skit, song,
routine,
etc. It does not
have to be a
large group. One
or two students
singing or
playing
instruments is
perfect as well.
Who do I contact
if I want to be
involved?
If you
would like to
bring your kids
on-air to
present their
fundraiser or
perform, email
Becky
Magness or
complete the
forms attached
so that she can
assign you a
time slot in
the schedule of
the broadcast.
Please complete
this form in a
comprehensive
manner.

What are the
goals of the
telethon?
To
provide our
students with
service-learning
opportunities
and raise their
awareness of
the condition of
those less
fortunate
To
offer much
needed
assistance to
families in our
own communities.
To
give
students
authentic
broadcast
production and
editing
experience.
To
unite the
district in a
positive
community
service
opportunity
while spreading
holiday cheer!
Main things
teachers will
need to be
concerned about:
December 19 –
please try to
NOT plan tests
or other big
activities/projects
– kids need
service
opportunities
too.
Clubs
– baskets and
