Senior BBQ

The Senior BBQ was a huge success today and a round of applause to Lynn Gurrentz.  For those of you with up and coming seniors, this is the day the entire senior class has a group photo taken at the football field and then they come back to the cafeteria for an amazing lunch. Teachers cooked hamburgers and hotdogs, and parents provided the amazing array of salads, desserts, bbq ham and just an huge amount of food. Then Lynn hosted a raffle with gift cards and other goodies with donations collected from parents.  Lynn and the other parents worked very hard to give these seniors a special day, and we also thank the cafeteria staff, especially Claire, who is always so gracious about sharing her time and providing last minute items from the cafeteria.  Kids sure are a hungry bunch!

CLIMATE SURVEY

Hey parents… we don’t have enough people to help out with the Climate Survey and could really use you!!!!  Lynn Gurrentz is turning into a one-armed paper hanger here and she needs some help! She only has one person to help her with the Climate Survey (no, its not a weather thing) and she needs a few more parents, so please consider supporting this very important activity… Please call her at 724-733-4565 or at lynngurrentz@comcast.net .  Here are the details…

The High School needs parents to oversee students taking a “Building Climate” survey.  One of our goals is to make FRHS a better place; free of bullying and harassment.  One way to do that is to survey the students.  Our Social Studies Departments have volunteered the time to help, but we need parents to oversee the kids, in small groups, while on the computers.  We need 1-2 parents in LMC and 1-2 parents in lab upstairs.  The shifts will be Monday, October 6th – Friday, October 10th from 7:30 – 11:00 and 11:00 – 2:15.  Any time you can volunteer will be greatly appreciated.

Parents needed for Fact Finding Committee

 A committee is forming to look into installing a permanent roof over the cafeteria patio. As you may know, many of our students enjoy some leisure time outside on the patio during lunch or during study hall. Students brave all kinds of inclement weather year round in exchange for some fresh air and sunshine. A permanent roof would expand the usage of the patio not only for lunch times, but for a whole host of events and educational activities (like the Senior BBQ).

If you are interested in joining the committee please reply to the below address. The committee will probably meet once or twice before setting up a recommendation.

Thank you, Lynn Gurrentz  lynngurrentz@comcast.net  {amazing woman}

Senior Graduate Ad for the Quill Due October 17

I have more great info coming, but that’s all I could fit into this issue.  Also, a form was sent out to all parents of Seniors who want to place an ad  in the Quill and put a writeup next to your child’s baby picture. The cost for this ad is $50 and must be sent in by October 17th.  I have scanned in the form on my computer and will send it at your request. If you have a senior and need a form, send me a email and put the words Quill Form in the subject line.
